Saquon Barkley and Patrick Surtain II Win Top Honors at 2025 NFL Awards

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley won Offensive Player of the Year, while Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II was named Defensive Player of the Year at the 2025 NFL Honors ceremony.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was named Offensive Player of the Year at the 2025 NFL Honors ceremony, held at the Saenger Theatre on Thursday. The event was attended by NFL stars, former players, and celebrities.

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II took home the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Barkley’s Record-Breaking Season

Barkley had an incredible season, rushing for a career-best 2,005 yards in the regular season—the most in the league. After a dominant playoff run, he now has 2,447 total rushing yards (regular and postseason combined), just 30 yards away from breaking Terrell Davis’ record from 1998.

Barkley joined the Eagles this season after spending six years with the New York Giants, where he totaled 5,211 yards and 35 touchdowns. In just one year with the Eagles, he has nearly matched half of that production, helping Philadelphia finish with a 14-3 record and earn a spot in Super Bowl LIX.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Barkley was selected as a first-team All-Pro for the first time in 2024. He previously won multiple Rookie of the Year awards in 2018 and was named PFWA Offensive Player of the Year and Bert Bell Award winner (top NFL player) in 2024.

Surtain Dominates on Defense

At just 24 years old, Surtain has established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He is now a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time Pro Bowler.

Surtain also won the PFWA Defensive Player of the Year award.

The only season he was not a Pro Bowler was his rookie year when he made the All-Rookie Team and recorded four interceptions. He matched that total in 2024, including a 100-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Over his career, Surtain has recorded 11 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 232 tackles while continuing to earn praise for his outstanding play.
