Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made history in Sunday’s Super Bowl, breaking the all-time NFL record for most rushing yards in a single season, including playoffs.

Barkley entered the game needing just 31 yards in the first half to surpass Terrell Davis’ long-standing record of 2,476 yards, set in 1998 with the Denver Broncos. By halftime, he had reached 2,478 yards, setting a new benchmark in his remarkable 2024-25 season.

It was a relatively quiet first half for Barkley, who turned 28 on Sunday, capping off a career-best year in Philadelphia. He became only the ninth player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a 17-game regular season.

The achievement was bittersweet for New York Giants fans, who could only watch as their former star—born in the Bronx—thrived in Philadelphia after leaving in free agency last year.
