The New Orleans Saints have signed running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to a one-year contract. The team did not share the financial details.
Edwards-Helaire, who is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and played for LSU, joined the Saints in December.
He played in the last two games of the 2024 season after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs. In those games, he ran 13 times for 46 yards and caught three passes for 24 yards.
The 25-year-old is starting his sixth NFL season. He was first drafted by the Chiefs in 2020 as the 32nd overall pick.

In 50 career games (32 starts), he has run for 1,891 yards and 12 touchdowns on 454 carries. He has also caught 92 passes for 789 yards and seven touchdowns.
His best season was as a rookie when he gained 1,100 total yards (803 rushing, 297 receiving). Since then, his numbers have dropped.
Last year, Edwards-Helaire shared that he has dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for over 5 1/2 years. He said he has had flashbacks, nightmares, and strong anxiety.
