Tyreek Hill Apologizes to Tua Tagovailoa, Commits to Dolphins Future

Tyreek Hill apologized to Tua Tagovailoa for past comments suggesting he was done with the Dolphins. He now takes “full accountability” and looks forward to the 2025 season.

After making headlines by suggesting his time with the Miami Dolphins was over, Tyreek Hill has now taken a different stance.

On Friday, Hill publicly apologized to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for his previous comments.

“Tua, he’s my guy,” Hill said during a conversation with Kay Adams. “Always will be my guy no matter what. I’m sure he understands my frustration, we all want to win. Tua, he’s another competitor. He’s a hell of a competitor. A lot of people don’t know that. He’s a winner, he’s consistent. So, I’m looking forward to us continuing to build our relationship. … And this is my public apology to you, Tua.”

Hill later reiterated his apology in an interview with Pro Football Talk, saying he takes “full accountability” for his words.

What Led to This?

Last month, Hill sparked speculation when he told reporters, “I’m out. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I gotta do what’s best for my career, because I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

This led to concerns that Hill wanted to leave Miami. However, head coach Mike McDaniel later confirmed that Hill took accountability during a one-hour meeting. General manager Chris Grier also stated that Hill never requested a trade.

Hill’s Frustration After a Tough Season

Hill previously addressed his comments while streaming a video game, expressing his frustration with Miami’s disappointing 8-9 season.

“What y’all had heard at the end of the season was frustration,” Hill said, per ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques. “I’ve been winning my whole life, bruh. Y’all don’t understand, I bust my ass every day—I deserve to feel like that, I deserve to have some kind of opinion… I compete, I love to compete, bruh.”

The Dolphins missed the playoffs after two straight postseason appearances. Injuries to Tagovailoa, who played only 11 games, and a drop in Hill’s production (959 yards vs. 1,799 yards in 2023) contributed to the team’s struggles.

Despite his past frustration, Hill remains under contract through 2026 and is still one of the top playmakers in the league. With Tagovailoa healthy, the Dolphins will look to bounce back in 2025.

Hill’s latest comments suggest that his relationship with Tagovailoa is still strong, and the Dolphins will hope to return to playoff contention next season.
