Are we looking at another Wilson-Carroll duo? With Carroll being appointed head coach of the Raiders, questions are being raised whether Wilson could be a free-agent addition for the Las Vegas team in 2025.
Wilson is reportedly on the verge of returning to “head coach” Pete Carroll again.
After it was reported that Pete Carroll accepted the head coach position with the Las Vegas Raiders, Jeff Howe, of The Athletic, reported that Wilson is one “name to keep an eye on” in the Raiders free agency.
With Pete Carroll taking over the Raiders, one name I’ve heard to watch at QB: Russell Wilson.

They’ve mended fences, per source, and Wilson could be a stopgap while the Raiders develop a long-term answer.
I think in this case Marion and Wally have mended fences, which is why Wilson is one name to monitor.
It is also possible that the return of Wally gives the Raiders a strong quarterback in the short term while they look for a solid long term option.
There is a lot of history between Wilson and Carroll.

They spent 10 seasons together in Seattle and formed one of the most formidable pairings in the NFL, winning 105 games and losing 55 plus one tie, participating in 2 Superbowls, winning 1.
Carroll has eight Pro Bowl titles under his belt, and throughout his time with Wilson, he threw over 37 thousand yards, earned 292 level and only 87 interceptions.
However, things altered after Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos before the 2022 season.
Carroll was left with the decision to move ahead with Smith as quarterback. Carroll eventually made his exit from Seattle in early 2024.
Wilson spent time with the Denver Broncos where he had an 11-19 record as a starter.
His time with the broncos wasn’t as successful as planned, resulting in them releasing him after the 2023 season.

In 2024, Wilson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers playing 11 games and throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. His efforts allowed the team to qualify for the playoffs.
Currently, Wilson’s 2025 future looks incomplete; there’s a chance Wilson might want to stay in Pittsburgh though.
In this scenario, the team while explore other younger quarterback options like Justin Fields. This may open for Wilson to join Carroll in Las Vegas.
Wilson’s reunion with Carroll may serve short term for the Raiders but it has the potential to provide extensive experience to the team during rebuilding.
Having a positive history together from their time in the broncos gives this an uplifting feeling for Raiders fans.
Regardless of this being the case, it’s certainly an appealing story to watch for the offseason.
