Rojas Made His Return to the Team & Helped Them Tie the Game Against Platense
Matías Rojas was on target towards the end of the match and helped River Plate draw 1-1 with Platense in the first fixture of the Argentine Primera Division. Franco Armani’s mistake, combined with a rough environment, complicated things.
Rojas came through in the game’s closing stages, which helped River Plate draw their match against Platense with a score of 1-1 on Saturday’s first Argentine Primera Division.
Match Report
Just 12 minutes into the game, River Plate’s goalkeeper Franco Armani made a colossal mistake.
In the twelfth minute, he completely mistimed the free kick from Vicente Taborda, which caused him to fumble the ball straight into his goalpost, resulting in a 1-0 lead for Platense.
Under Marcello Gallardo’s guidance, River Plate had most of the ball and tried to equalize before the break.
Still, the defense from Platense was on point. The home keeper, Juan Pablo Cozzani, made a crucial stop to prevent River from scoring during a Manuel Lanzini one-on-one chance.
In the 2nd half, Platense nearly went two goals up. Still, Augusto Lotti could not convert when he was put through on goal facing off against Armani.
River Plate did not give up and astonishingly equalized the score as late as 3 minutes before the final whistle. Cohasset Cozzani’s horrible clearance fell to Matías Rojas, who came off the bench and headed the ball into an unprotected goal to level the score for his side.

Player Reactions
Rojas, son of famous sports journalist Horacio Rojas, was on loan at Inter Miami and spoke after the match:
“We arrived with the mentality of winning, which we trained for. We had an exceptional preseason, and from my standpoint, not winning this match leaves a bitter taste,” he stated. “Given the conditions, we put in the right effort, but the pitch was dry, which made it a bit harder. This is also not an excuse – we must learn to deal with any conditions. I suppose this is how we start our campaign, and I trust there are many things we can work on.”
