Neymar and Al-Hilal have parted ways by mutual consent after a brief and challenging stint. The Brazilian star is rumored to return to Santos, his first club.
Neymar and Al-Hilal have decided to part ways, the team announced on Monday. Things didn’t go as planned for the Brazilian superstar during his time there.
The 32-year-old hurt his knee back in October 2023 while playing for Brazil in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. Since then, he hasn’t been able to get back to his best shape.
“Al-Hilal Club Company and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate their contractual relationship by mutual consent,” the club posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Neymar only played seven games for Al-Hilal after joining them from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023 for around €90 million ($98 million).
There’s talk that Neymar might return to Santos, the club where he started his career before moving to Barcelona in 2013.
In 2017, he made a record-breaking move from Barcelona to PSG for €222 million, and that record still hasn’t been broken.
