Israel International Footballer Gadi Kinda Dies Aged 31 After Medical Battle

Gadi Kinda, Israeli international and former MLS star, has died at age 31 following a complex medical battle. Tributes pour in from clubs, teammates, and the Israeli FA.

Gadi Kinda, a beloved Israel international footballer and former MLS standout, has tragically passed away at the age of 31 following what was described as a “complex medical battle.”

Kinda was born in Ethiopia, moving to Israel at the age of three, and would go on to represent the Israeli national team, earning nine international caps and scoring two goals. Known for his technical ability and creativity as an attacking midfielder, Kinda also enjoyed success in both Israeli domestic football and Major League Soccer, most recently playing for Maccabi Haifa after joining from Sporting Kansas City in January 2023.

Tributes from Maccabi Haifa and the Football Community

Maccabi Haifa confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media:

“Maccabi Haifa Football Club mourns the death of the team’s player, Gadi Raphael Kinda, who passed away at the age of 31. The Maccabi Haifa family hugs the Kinda family and prays that they will not know any more sorrow.”

Just two weeks ago, the club had revealed that Kinda was undergoing treatment in the hospital for a serious health issue, stating he was receiving full support and undergoing a “series of comprehensive tests.” At the time, they had expressed hope for his recovery.

A Respected Life On and Off the Pitch

The Israel Football Association also released a heartfelt statement, mourning the loss of not just a talented footballer, but a deeply admired person:

“Israeli football lost not only a talented player today, but also a beloved and respected person. We share the grief of the Kinda family over Gadi’s untimely passing.”

IFA Chairman Shino Zuaretz expressed his sorrow, saying:

“The mind refuses to understand, the heart aches and the eyes tear up with the news of the passing of our dear Gadi Kinda. The term ‘premature’ takes on a chilling meaning when it comes to someone so young, a great player, and a wonderful person.”

“I managed to talk to him in recent days and the only consolation is that he was aware of all the prayers, the big hugs, the moving gestures, and the immense love for him. We will commemorate his memory in the State Cup final and honor his legacy of love for humanity, humility, and brotherhood. May his memory be blessed.”
