Travis Kelce Fined $11,255 for Taunting in AFC Championship

Chiefs’ Travis Kelce was fined $11,255 for taunting in the AFC Championship against the Bills. Kansas City moves on to its third straight Super Bowl.

Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce was fined $11,255 for taunting during the team’s 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship, according to ESPN.

Kelce taunted Bills safeties Damar Hamlin and Cole Bishop after Patrick Mahomes scored a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter. He was not given a penalty during the game.

After Kelce’s taunt, Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips hit him helmet-to-helmet. The NFL fined Phillips $6,722 for unnecessary roughness.

Kelce had a quiet game, catching only two passes for 19 yards—his lowest in any playoff game. But the Chiefs still won after Harrison Butker kicked a 35-yard game-winning field goal with under four minutes left.

The NFL charges $11,255 for a first taunting offense. If Kelce does it again, the fine goes up to $16,883.

Earlier in the 2024 season, Kelce was fined $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct in Week 17. He celebrated a touchdown by dunking the ball over the goalpost, honoring Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez.

Kelce had 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns this season. He did not reach 1,000 yards for the second year in a row but remained a key player for the Chiefs.

As Kansas City tries to win three straight Super Bowls, Kelce will need to stay focused and avoid more fines.
