Travis Kelce says the Chiefs are embracing their “villain” role as they chase a third straight Super Bowl win. He’s focused on his team, not outside noise.
Travis Kelce isn’t apologizing for the Kansas City Chiefs’ success. In fact, he’s embracing the idea that the team has become the “villains” as they aim for their third straight Super Bowl win.
On his New Heights podcast this week, Kelce talked about how fans’ opinions change over time.
“I love it,” he said. “At one point in time, it wasn’t that. I was the ‘do you feel bad for ’em’ guy. Now, I’m just enjoying this journey with my teammates. It makes us even more like family.”

The Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 in New Orleans. It’s a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, where the Chiefs won 38-35.
But Kelce isn’t paying much attention to what people are saying about the team.
“You just circle the wagons,” he said. “People will say whatever they want, but we stick together. It makes us appreciate what we have even more—because others want it too.”
At 35, Kelce was named to his 10th straight Pro Bowl this season. He finished the regular season with 97 catches, 823 yards, and three touchdowns in 16 games. In the playoffs, he has nine catches for 136 yards and a touchdown so far.
Love them or hate them, the Chiefs aren’t going anywhere—and Kelce is just fine with that.
