Josh Allen Takes Blame for Bills’ AFC Championship Loss After Kincaid Drop

After a tough dropped pass by Dalton Kincaid in the Bills’ AFC Championship loss, Josh Allen takes responsibility and vows to improve. Here’s how the team is rallying around Kincaid.

The Buffalo Bills’ heartbreaking 32-29 AFC Championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs ended with a crucial fourth-and-5 play where tight end Dalton Kincaid dropped a tough pass from quarterback Josh Allen. While some have criticized Kincaid, Allen immediately took the blame.

“I’ve got to be better for him,” Allen said, according to ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg. “I didn’t feel like I put him in enough good situations this year… He can sit there and think about that play over and over, but I’ve got to be better for him.”

The play cost the Bills a chance to attempt a game-tying field goal, but teammates emphasized that it wasn’t the reason they lost.

Linebacker Terrel Bernard defended Kincaid, saying, “It’s unfair to say he lost us the game. There are so many plays throughout a game, and we just didn’t make enough of them.”

Despite the drop, Allen praised Kincaid’s effort and toughness throughout the season.

“He’s been battling all year with bumps and bruises. He’s a tough sucker, and I’ve got nothing but love for him,” Allen said. “He’s going to be so much better next year, and I promise I’ll be better for him.”

Kincaid finished the season with 448 yards and 44 catches, adding six receptions for 71 yards in the playoffs. After the game, Kincaid said, “Just an opportunity for a play to be made, and I couldn’t make the play.”

In a kind gesture, Baltimore Ravens fans started a GoFundMe to support the Summit Center for Autism, a charity Kincaid works with. So far, the campaign has raised $3,001 out of its $10,000 goal.

While the loss stings, it’s clear the Bills aren’t blaming Kincaid for the outcome. The team is already looking ahead to the offseason, determined to come back stronger next year.
