Jimmy Butler’s ongoing battle with the Miami Heat continues to cost him big, with his latest suspension adding to the financial toll as he pushes for a trade.
Jimmy Butler’s problems with the Miami Heat just got worse—and more expensive.
The Heat announced on Monday that Butler is suspended “without pay for at least five games” because of a “continued pattern of disregard of team rules, engaging in conduct detrimental to the team and intentionally withholding services,” which included “walking out of practice earlier today.” They also said he walked out of practice earlier in the day.

According to ESPN, Butler will lose $532,737 per game during this suspension, which adds up to at least $2.7 million. Combined with the $3.1 million he already lost from earlier suspensions, Butler has now given up over $5.8 million in total.
Butler might try to get some of that money back by filing a grievance through the players’ union, like Ben Simmons did in 2022 when the 76ers suspended him during his trade fight.
Simmons eventually got part of his money back, but there’s no guarantee Butler will have the same result.
With the trade deadline coming up on February 6, Butler is clearly trying to force his way out of Miami, but it’s costing him a lot.
Whether the Heat can find a trade partner before the deadline is still up in the air.
