Angel Reese Shines Despite Unrivaled Loss

Even in defeat, Angel Reese impressed with 13 points, key blocks, and rebounds in an intense game against Sabrina Ionescu and Phantom BC.

Rose BC may have fallen short, but Angel Reese still turned heads in a Friday night Unrivaled loss to Sabrina Ionescu and Phantom BC.

The Chicago Sky guard won over fans by putting up 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, along with seven rebounds, one steal, and two blocks—all in just 11 minutes of play.

Reese’s standout moment came in the third quarter when she blocked Satou Sabally and then grabbed an offensive rebound before finishing an and-1 over 6-foot-9 Brittney Griner.

The Rose had to play without Brittney Sykes, who missed the game with a leg injury.

Off the bench, Azurá Stevens led the team with 19 points. Still, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 32-point performance from New York Liberty and Phantom star Sabrina Ionescu.

Ionescu ended the game going 11-of-18 from the field and adding nine rebounds and eight assists, helping the Phantoms build a big fourth-quarter lead.

Sabally, who was reportedly on the move from the Dallas Wings to the Phoenix Mercury during the game, sealed the win with a game-winning three-pointer.

The Rose have been struggling with consistency on defense during their first Unrivaled season. With this loss, Reese and her team drop to a 1-4 record as they prepare to face Alyssa Thomas, Jackie Young, and the undefeated Laces on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, the Phantoms improved to 2-3 and will aim to reach a .500 record with a Monday night matchup against Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart, and the winless Mist.
