Dodgers Could Trade Players to Make Room for New Signings

After signing star players like Blake Snell and Tanner Scott, the Dodgers may trade Ryan Brasier and others to clear space on their roster.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made big moves this offseason, signing stars like Blake Snell, Tanner Scott, and Roki Sasaki.

Now, with Kirby Yates possibly joining the team, they need to free up space on their 40-man roster.

One player who might be traded is veteran reliever Ryan Brasier.

“The Los Angeles Dodgers, who need to clear space on their 40-man roster for their new and pending additions, are shopping some of their surplus to teams, including veteran Ryan Brasier, who is owed $4.5 million this year,” USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported.

Brasier had a solid 2024 season, posting a 3.54 ERA in 28 innings, but Yates would provide an upgrade to the bullpen.

Brasier is entering the final year of his two-year, $9 million contract.

The Dodgers may also trade other players. In a report for MLB.com, Sonja Chen listed Chris Taylor, Miguel Rojas, and James Outman as the “top possibilities” for the team’s next trade.

“As busy as the Dodgers have been this offseason, there’s still more they would like to accomplish,” Chen added. “Depending on what’s next, they may need to open more spots on the 40-man roster.”

After adding Tanner Scott, the most sought-after reliever on the market, some thought the Dodgers were finished making changes.

But their pursuit of Yates shows they’re always looking to improve the team.

Even after winning the 2024 World Series, the Dodgers are not slowing down. Fans can expect more roster changes as the offseason continues.
