Man Utd Summer Begins to Take Shape as Cunha Deal Nears, Ten Hag Eyes New Role, and Wan-Bissaka Shines at West Ham

Manchester United prepare for a chaotic summer as Matheus Cunha nears a £60m move, Erik ten Hag considers next steps, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s West Ham form raises regrets.

Manchester United are bracing for a massive summer shake-up — no matter how things go in the Europa League final. But for now, all eyes are on Athletic Bilbao, with a Champions League spot hanging in the balance.

A win over Tottenham on Wednesday would seal United’s return to the Champions League. A loss? That would mean no European football at all for new boss Ruben Amorim, capping off what’s already been a rough domestic campaign.

Heading into the final, neither team is in top form. United just lost 1-0 to Chelsea, while a rotated Spurs side fell 2-0 at Aston Villa, leaving both teams languishing in 16th and 17th in the Premier League.

Despite the uncertainty, United’s transfer wheels are already turning — and one deal in particular could be a game-changer.

Cunha Commits Amid Chaos

According to the Mirror, Matheus Cunha is ready to sign for Manchester United even though the club’s European fate is still undecided.

The Brazilian forward will join from Wolves in a deal worth over £60 million, thanks to a release clause activated from his recent contract renewal.

Cunha has limited Champions League experience — just two games with RB Leipzig and 10 with Atletico Madrid — though injuries kept him sidelined during key fixtures, including Atletico’s 2022 knockout win over United. He also featured in the Europa League for Leipzig back in 2018-19, scoring three goals in the group stage before the team failed to progress.

His willingness to join regardless of United’s European status is a strong signal of intent from both player and club.

Ten Hag Eyes Germany?

Erik ten Hag, who was recently let go by United, could be heading to Bayer Leverkusen, though he’s reportedly not their first choice.

Sky Germany reports that Cesc Fabregas, currently managing Como, is Leverkusen’s top pick to replace Xabi Alonso, who’s set to take over at Real Madrid next season.

Still, if Leverkusen can’t land Fabregas, they could turn to Ten Hag as a plan B.

Wan-Bissaka’s Redemption Raises Questions

One former United man making headlines is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who’s just been named West Ham’s Player of the Year in his first season at the club.

The right-back joined the Hammers in a £15 million deal — a price now seen as a bargain, especially considering his consistent form and strong performances throughout a tough season for West Ham.

Despite the club’s struggles, they managed to do the double over United, including a win at the London Stadium that reportedly played a role in Ten Hag’s dismissal.

Wan-Bissaka’s resurgence has prompted questions about United’s decision to let him go so cheaply.

With big moves already unfolding — and more to come depending on how things play out in Bilbao — it’s shaping up to be a very busy summer at Old Trafford.
