Fever star Caitlin Clark will likely miss Tuesday’s game vs. the New York Liberty due to a right groin injury. Here’s the latest on her recovery and what it means for Indiana’s season.

Fever Star Caitlin Clark to Miss More Time as Groin Issues Persist

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is expected to remain out as her battle with a right groin injury continues. Fever head coach Stephanie White confirmed on Sunday that Clark is unlikely to play Tuesday night against the New York Liberty.

“She’s gonna see some doctors and get some more tests run early in the week,” White said.
“I don’t expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we’re just going to continue to take it one day at a time.”

It’s another frustrating turn for Clark, who was set to captain the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis but had to sit out both the game and the 3-point contest due to the injury.

From Ironwoman to Injury List

Clark never missed a game during her legendary college run at Iowa or in her Rookie of the Year debut season with Indiana in 2024. But her sophomore WNBA campaign has been far more physically demanding.

She’s now missed 10 regular-season games due to soft tissue issues—starting with her left quad, then her left groin, and now her right groin. Add in her absence from the Commissioner’s Cup final, and this stretch has clearly tested both her body and the Fever’s chemistry.

“These soft tissue injuries sometimes nag until you can actually have time to really allow them to heal in the offseason,” White noted.
“So, we’ll just take it one day at a time… this group will continue to progress together.”

Stat Line: Still Elite When She’s On the Floor

Despite the missed time, Clark’s numbers are still strong:

Advertisements
  • 16.5 points
  • 8.8 assists (league-leading)
  • 5.0 rebounds
  • 1.6 steals
  • 31.1 minutes per game

All across just 13 games so far this season—every one of them starts.

Her ability to control tempo, facilitate offense, and stretch the floor remains unmatched, but her absence has forced Indiana to constantly shuffle lineups and adjust on the fly.

What It Means for the Fever

The Fever currently sit at 12-11, still very much in playoff contention. But Clark’s uncertain timeline and the team’s overall injury luck have made consistency a moving target.

Without Clark, the Fever lose their primary playmaker and floor general—one who also brings an undeniable spark to both ends of the court. The key now? Keeping pace in the standings while managing her recovery the right way.

Looking Ahead

The Fever face the Liberty on Tuesday in New York—likely without their star guard once again. Beyond that, her status remains day-to-day, with medical testing expected to offer more clarity this week.

Bottom line: The team’s taking no chances, and neither is Clark. Long-term health comes first.
