Warriors to Retire Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 Jersey on Feb. 23

The Golden State Warriors will honor Andre Iguodala by retiring his No. 9 jersey after their game against the Mavericks on Feb. 23.

The Golden State Warriors will retire Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 jersey after their home game against the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 23, the team announced Tuesday. Iguodala will become the seventh player in franchise history to receive the honor.

Iguodala’s Legacy with the Warriors

Iguodala was a key part of the Warriors’ dynasty, winning four NBA championships and earning the 2015 NBA Finals MVP. He played seven seasons with the team across two different stints before retiring after his 19th NBA season in 2023.

The Warriors acquired Iguodala in 2013 through a sign-and-trade deal. He immediately made an impact, helping Golden State win the 2015 NBA title while playing a crucial defensive role against LeBron James in the Finals.

Over 111 playoff games with the Warriors, Iguodala ranked top-five in assists, steals, and three-pointers made in franchise postseason history.

Warriors CEO on Iguodala’s Impact

Warriors CEO Joe Lacob praised Iguodala’s contributions, saying:

“Andre will go down as one of the smartest, shrewdest, and most unique and successful players ever to wear a Warriors uniform… The proof is in the rafters, and his number belongs alongside the banners he helped us raise.”

  • Alvin Attles (No. 16)
  • Chris Mullin (No. 17)
  • Rick Barry (No. 24)
  • Nate Thurmond (No. 42)

More Jersey Retirements to Come?

Iguodala is the first player from the Warriors’ dynasty (2015-2022) to have his number retired, but he won’t be the last. Future candidates include:

  • Stephen Curry (No. 30)
  • Klay Thompson (No. 11)
  • Draymond Green (No. 23)
  • Kevin Durant (No. 35)

Thompson, who left the Warriors to join the Mavericks for the 2024-25 season, is expected to attend the ceremony as the Mavs and Warriors tip off at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Iguodala’s jersey retirement will be a special moment, cementing his legacy as a key part of Golden State’s championship success.
